I was arrested for being a Boko Haram leader – Asari Dokubo
I was arrested for being a Boko Haram
leader – Asari Dokubo

*Says Jonathan intervened on his behalf
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
A former President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and
leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force
(NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was
arrested last week in Republic of Benin, has
accused those opposed to the second term
ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan of
masterminding his arrest.
Asari, who apparently betrayed emotion on arrival at
the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,
Friday night, also said he was arrested and
interrogated by Benin officials over an allegation
from Nigeria that he is a leader of Boko Haram.
Speaking to journalists at the airport, he also
described as lies the report that Jonathan sent a
presidential jet to fly him into Nigeria from Benin.
His words: “Crisis is normal, it can also happen
here in Nigeria, it can happen anywhere in the
world. The people and government of Republic of
Benin have no problem with me.
But if people alleged that somebody is a leader of
Boko Haram, the government of that country will
investigate the person.
”The allegation has much to do with 2015 because
when you read comments on social media, you find
out that people who are against President Goodluck
Jonathan said they should vilify me, and make sure
I die before 2015.
Asari Dokubo
But they are not going to succeed. I am not going to
die. I will be present in 2015, and I will do what I am
going to do to ensure that Jonathan wins in 2015.
There is nothing they can do about it. This is their
last fight and it is so unfortunate that the way they
are going with show how immature they are.
“I just arrived from Cotonou. I drove in my car from
Cotonou to Lagos airport where I boarded a flight to
Abuja. The report is not true. No presidential jet was
sent to me.
”I do business in Cotonou, and I have been living in
Cotonou since 2008. Politically, people who are in
Nigeria are trying to fabricate lies, which are not
variable, and send it to Republic of Benin
government. So I was taken for interrogation and
they found that the allegations were false, and I was
promptly released with over 20 of my staff who
were also taken in.”
The former warlord, however, said his arrest was a
blessing in disguise as he had an opportunity of
meeting with officials of Benin after his
interrogation. “I have met with the top and powerful
people in Republic of Benin. Since I went to that
country, I have never had any reason to meet with
their government officials, but this crisis has made
it possible for me to meet with all top government
functionaries of the Republic of Benin. The crisis
has raised my profile in that country.”
Asked whether President Jonathan intervened to
secure his release, he said: “It is not just only
President Jonathan that intervened, Nigerians
generally intervened. The number of people that
came into Cotonou the day I was taken in, and the
following day, were over one thousand.”

We didn’t give ASUU ultimatum – Jonathan
We didn’t give ASUU ultimatum –
Jonathan
on november 30, 2013 at 8:01 pm in news
By Samuel Oyadongha, Yenagoa
President Goodluck Jonathan has weekend, said his
government did not give the Academic Staff Union
of Universities, ASUU, an ultimatum to resume work
or be sacked.
Fielding questions from newsmen at the expanded
caucus meeting of the Bayelsa State Peoples
Democratic Party held at Government House,
Yenagoa, the President said, the Supervising
Minister of Education only passed on the decision of
the Committee of Vice Chancellors.
“We didn’t give them ultimatum; it was the
Committee of Vice Chancellors that took that
decision. The Supervising Minister of Education only
passed on the decision.”
Jonathan also said the strike embarked upon by the
ASUU was no longer a trade dispute , but a
subversive action.
Jonathan
He said, “What ASUU is doing is no longer trade
union. I have intervened in other labour issues
before now, once I invite them they respond and
after the meeting they take decision and call off the
strike.
“At times we don’t even give them a long
notice, unlike, in the case of ASUU that was given
four days notice before the meeting. As you are
meeting to resolve trade disputes, you expect the
trade unions to get their officials ready.
“What was expected having met with the highest
authorities in the land for long hours, was for ASUU
to immediately issue statement within 12 or latest
24 hours , to state their position whether they were
accepting government’s offer or not. And if they are
not accepting they should state the reason for that.”
“But despite the fact that I had the longest meeting
with ASUU in my political history, we did not start
that meeting until around 2:00pm and the meeting
ended the next day in the early hours. As far as the
government of Nigeria was concerned, all the
critical people that should be in a meeting were
there, so what else do they want?
“After that they didn’t meet until one week, despite
the fact that you met with the highest authority. It
was unfortunate one of them, Prof. Iyayi died.
“The way ASUU has conducted the matter shows
they are extreme and when Iyayi died, they now
said the strike was now indefinite, our children have
been at home for over five months.”

wife fathia to court over name
According to unconfirmed reports, popular actor
Saheed Balogun has dragged his ex-wife actress
Fathia Balogun to court over the use of his name,
Balogun, insisting that she drops it. The two were
married for many years before ending their union,
which produced three children, a few years ago.
Saheed has been trying for years to get Fathia to
revert to her maiden name but Fathia has always
insisted she made a career using the name and
has no plans to ever drop it.
"My name is Fathia Balogun and it’s going to
remain Balogun for life. Nobody can ever
change that or stop me from answering that
name" She said in an interview in 2011.
Well, now Saheed has reportedly gone to court to
get her to drop the name. Can the courts really
force her to drop her ex-husband's name? And
why is Saheed so insistent on this, how does it
affect him?

Why I Denied My Son Jamal Before Now – Ice Prince
Why I Denied My Son Jamal Before Now – Ice
Prince
Ice Prince welcomed a baby boy with a 20-year
old undergraduate student. Soon after she put to
bed and the news went out, Ice Prince denied
ever impregnating her, and said it to whoever
cared to listen. He has however explained his
reasons for doing that in this new interview with
showbizplus, because he now flaunts the boy and
also brought him on stage at his just concluded
FOZ concert.
You initially denied having a baby?
It was complicated back then, I didn’t really know
what was happening and I wasn’t sure of certain
things. So the best I had to do then was denying it
and sort out things first. Now I know he is my
child and I have done everything as a father ever
since.
What is the relationship like with his mother?
I speak with her often and it is usually about the
baby. That is all for now.
Have you started thinking about marriage?
No, I’m fully focused on my music.
PDP is now a minority party in the House of Representatives — Davies
PDP is now a minority party in the House
of Representatives — Davies
on november 30, 2013 at 1:45 am in special report
Hon. Davies
BY LEVINUS NWABUGHIOGU
Believe it or not, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi
who defected to All Progressive Congress (APC)
alongside 4 other erstwhile PDP Governors has a
legion of supporters.
One of them is Hon. Seconte Davies who currently
represents Bonny/ Degema Federal Constituency of
Rivers State in the House of Representatives. He
told Saturday Vanguard in this interview that the
PDP is facign a great threat to its existence.
Bickering and infighting have engulfed your party,
the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with an
implosion into the House of Representatives. How
may you react to that?
I won’t actually call it
bickering or infighting.
What I see is
difference in opinions
on how the party
should be run. If you
look at the PDP as it
has turned out to be of
recent, even people
have complained about
one challenge, problem
from the direction it was going but I think that the
situation presently has worsened. Some leaders of
the party decided to redirect it.
Apparently, the current leadership under Bamanga
Tukur is not willing to listen to voice of reason. For
me as a person, I am not much surprised because
first and for most, Bamanga Turkur does not know
how PDP came about. Therefore, whatever
suggestion being given to him about what PDP is
supposed to look like appears strange to him
because he does not know where PDP supposed to
be.
The unfortunate part is that some persons who
should know better Bamanga Tukur is doing are not
speaking up and I don’t know why they are
speaking up. Otherwise, they are in a solution to
also tell Bamanga that look, the way you are
directing the party is not the direction is not good.
But whatever reasons he has which I don’t know,
which they have not expressed.
But as it is said, tyranny reigns when men keep
silent. And so, there are still good men, relatively,
who will not just sit down. They have to speak up. In
fact, they went from place to place, talked to some
of the leaders who believe that they were in a
position to make thing work better.
But that is not happening. What were the
responses? Threats, intimidation, oppression using
federal powers because PDP is the party in control
at the federal level and all that. And we are in a
democracy for Gods sake.
Things that are happening now, I cannot even
imagine them under the military rule, even under the
most draconian military regime we have had and
since we are now in democracy, people must also
stand up to protect their democratic right and that is
what has happened in PDP.
But unfortunately, I have to tell you that the problem
of the PDP has just started. Whether PDP wants to
believe it or not, the truth is that there are so many
people who, nominally are still in the PDP
but operationally, morally, they are no longer PDP.
As the days go by, you will begin to see these
things play out. It is not a question of saying if 10
people leave, 500 people will come. It is not a
question of saying don’t worry when we win in
2015, these people will come back.
There is not any guarantee. In fact, I tell you without
any fear of contradiction that if PDP wins 2015
under these circumstances, under this
arrangement, it will be a major miracle. And let PDP
not deceive itself because we have the indices.
In fact, every Nigerian that is not even a PDP
person will know that what is happening in
PDP does not portend any good. As I speak with
you today, based on what has happened on
Tuesday, PDP is a minority party in the House of
Representatives. It is now a question of formalizing
their minority which may take one or two weeks.
What is your grouse against Turkur?
Our grouse against him is the fragrant disobedience
of the laws of the party; Total ignorance of the
party’s constitution. If Tukur knew the party’s
constitution, in the first place he wouldn’t have
suspended Governor Amaechi because it is only
NEC that can suspend a member of NEC. Ameachi is
a member of NEC. He tried that with Wamako and
quickly did a retreat.
Why did he not do a retreat in the case of Ameachi?
Because they thought that there is somebody
behind them who is supporting them. Every day, we
hear the voice of Jacob, but see the hand of Esau.
We are seeing that everyday. But one day, he will
be exposed. And he has only one option. It is either
he repents or he perishes. But I hope that the Jacob
will be like Jacob in the Bible who ran to God. But if
he is not Jacob in the Bible and he is Jacob in
Nigeria, then he will receive the reward for
deception.

Varsity graduate forges Gov’s letter-head paper
Varsity graduate forges Gov’s letter-head
paper
on november 29, 2013 at 4:43 pm in news
Lafia – The State Security Services (SSS) said on
Friday in Lafia that it had arrested a university
graduate (names withheld) for allegedly forging the
official letter-head paper of the Nasarawa State
Governor’s Office.
Mr Ngobiowei Awoikiega, the Assistant Director
(Security) of the service in the state, said that the
suspect was a graduate of Business Administration
from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He said the suspect was arrested in Akwanga,
headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area of
the state by operatives of the service following a
tip-off.
Awoikiega alleged that the suspect used the forged
letter-head paper and subsequently forged the
signature of the Secretary to the State Government,
Zainab Abdulmumin, to introduce himself and one
other person whose name could not be disclosed
with the intent of gaining employment at the Federal
Medical Centre, Keffi.
According to him, the suspect has made useful
statements on the alleged offence.
“Unknown to officials of the Federal Medical Centre,
Keffi, the management honoured the letter printed
on the fake letter-headed paper from the
Governor’s Office by offering a provisional
employment to his (suspect’s) client.”
Ngobiowei advised the general public to avoid falling
victims of the activities of persons with fraudulent
intentions.
Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect
admitted committing the offence, saying that he did
it because he could not secure employment since
2009 after his graduation from the university. (NAN)
ASUU’s fresh demands act of sabotage, says Don
ASUU’s fresh demands act of sabotage,

on november 29, 2013 at 1:34 pm in news
Uyo – A Lecturer at the University of Calabar, Dr
Edidiong Ebitu, has described the new demands by
the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as
an act of sabotage of the education sector.
Ebitu made the declaration on Friday in an interview
in Uyo.
The teacher, who is a senior lecturer in the
Department of Marketing in the university, said he
was in support of the Federal Government’s
directive that lecturers should resume classes.
“The various branches of ASUU had already voted
to resume classes. The over four-months strike has
done enough damage to the system.
“The president had made reasonable concessions,
so ASUU should resume for other things to fall in
place,” he said.
However, reacting to Ebitu’s views, the Secretary of
the University of Uyo Branch of ASUU, Dr Aniekan
Brown, debunked the claim that ASUU was making
fresh demands.
“ASUU is not making fresh demands, ASUU is
asking for the implementation of 2009 agreements.
“If any ASUU member says ASUU is making fresh
demands, I doubt if that person is an ASUU
member, that person is not informed,” Brown said.
ASUU is demanding among other things, immediate
payment of all outstanding salary arrears and
allowances of members withheld during the strike.
The union is also demanding a written commitment
from the president that N225 billion will be
committed to funding universities annually for the
next four years.
The Federal Ministry of Education had on Nov. 28,
directed the authorities of federal universities to re-
open classes immediately and to treat lecturers
who refused to resume work as having resigned.

New Nat ID card to replace voters’ card from 2015
New Nat ID card to replace voters’ card
from 2015
on november 29, 2013 at 11:05 am in news
Abuja – The new national identity card will replace
the current voters card after the 2015 general
elections, the National Identity Management
Commission (NIMC), has said.
The Director of Technical Services at the
commission, Mr Emma Ogungbe told Journalists on
Thursday in Abuja that the identity card would
enhance the integrity of the electoral process.
He explained that with the new identity card, NIMC
could give the details of every eligible voter from a
particular Local Government Area, Senatorial
District or State in Nigeria.
“During election, you go to a polling booth, you get
in there, what you do is carry your ID card with
you, they check your name against what NIMC is
giving them, tick it and you vote.”
Ogungbe assured Nigerians that the new national ID
card would put a permanent end to cases of election
rigging including double or multiple registrations or
voting.
He said the “new card is error-proof’’.
“In fact, one of the ministers not long ago even
came out to say after the 2015, the NIMC National
ID card will become the voters’ card.
“So, that just tells us that very soon, the National ID
card will also become the voters card and there
would be no need for ad hoc registration by INEC
again.
“That money can now be used by government for
other purposes to better serve Nigerians.
“We (NIMC) are able to identify you to be you. A
time will come if government says NIMC, give me
details of everyone in Lagos State, ages 18 and
above, we will give it to them; it will be a seamless
operation.
“Give me the list of people in so-so local
government or the whole of Anambra state ages 18
and above, we will give it to them because they’ve
already been in our database and it’s been
sanitised, we know they are who they say they

SHOCKING: The Flying ‘Wizard’ Who Crash-
Landed At Kasoa [SEE PHOTO]
A man believed to be in his 70s, who claimed to.be
a wizard, was on Wednesday found on the banks
of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near
the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region
Ghana.
The man, who gave his name as Charles Atta,
looked frail, pale and bore protruding br**sts like
that of a teenage girl.
His body was smeared with mud from the bank of
the river where he was found by two brothers,
Liberty Obeng and Innocent Obeng, who claimed
they found the strange man crying for help.
The two brothers told Daily Guide reporters that
the self-acclaimed wizard confessed to them that
he was in the company of colleagues, including a
medical doctor and were flying to Cape Coast for a
meeting when he was forced down.
According to him, they were flying over a church
where an all-night vigil was being held when he
crash- landed at Servant Kings International
School.
“When we as ked him where he was coming from,
Atta told us that he was from Akuapem Akropong
but was flying to Cape Coast to attend a meeting
for witches and wizards,” he said.
Charles also confessed that the two puffy
protrusions on his chest were br**sts taken from
his 16-year- old granddaughter and that he
normally borrowed them for his night activities.
The two brothers said they were initially confused
and bewildered by the weird sight of the man, and
not knowing what to do him took him to Pink FM, a
local radio station at Kasoa for help.
When the strange announcement was made on
radio, hundreds of people besieged the premises
of the radio station to see the suspected wizard.
Upon hearing the news, the Kasoa District Police
dispatched a number of police personnel to the
station to save the victim from being lynched.
Superintendent Samuel Tabril Punobyin told the
paper that the police did not investigate spiritual
matters and that the suspected wiz-ard could
therefore not be charged.
He said the police would look for the family erf the
man and hand him over to them. Charles Atta is
still in the custody .of the Kasoa Police.

Sack threat will fail – ASUU

By OLA AJAYI
IBADAN – The Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASUU) has said the threat by the Federal
Government to sack university lecturers would not
only fail but also worsen the situation and “another
long path to make the strike linger more than
necessary.”
With the threat, ASUU said it was evident now that
the Federal government was not ready to
implement any resolutions it reached with the union.
“It is a pity if the federal government is not willing
to perfect the resolutions reached with union. This
is why we find it difficult to trust our leaders by
their words. How can someone be threatening to
sack lecturers when universities are already short-
staffed by almost 60,000. We are not in Military era.
The Military tried it and failed. This one will fail
again.” ASUU said.

National Identity card to become ATM, travel card
National Identity card to become ATM,
travel card
on november 28, 2013 at 6:01 pm in news
Abuja - The new national identity card can be used
as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card anywhere
there is MasterCard logo in the world, the National
Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said.
NIMC’s Director of Technical Services, Mr
Emmanuel Ogungbe, told Journalists on Thursday
in Abuja that the commission had already signed an
agreement with MasterCard.
“As opposed to just being an ID card, the card is
also a cash card. What that means is you can also
use it the way you currently use your ATM card.
*The old National Identity Card
“So if you put money on the card, you can withdraw
this money anywhere in the world.
“Two, it’s also a travel card. What that means is
that very soon, especially within the West African
sub-region, you can travel passport-free as long as
you have this card with you.
“So this card has multi-purpose use and that is
why we are calling it a general-multi-purpose card,
it’s not just an ID card.”
According to him, all that a holder of the card needs
to do is to present it at the point of entry of any
country where it will be swiped.
He said the information about the person, similar to
the ones on passport, would come out and the
country would allow entry.
Ogungbe said that the new card was error-proof
and would enhance the security of the country.
“We have a system called automated biometrics
identification system in our data centre that checks
information of newly registered people coming into
the database against what we already have in the
database.
“If there is a hit, that means that person was
registered before and of course this means we will
deny new registration.
“So, there is no way of beating that system for now;
I’m very confident of that. That will ensure that you
can only register once.
“What the bad elements do is to hide in a way that
you won’t be able to capture them. But we are
saying with this (ID) we know who they are and we
will be able to very easily locate them,’’ he said.
According to him, if there is a crime and the police
are able to lift finger prints from the crime scene
and send to NIMC, the commission will be able to
give the full details of the criminals.
He also said that the card would reduce incidences
of bank frauds as fraudsters would be easily
detected and apprehended.
“Talk about even fraud in the banks, where
someone will obtain a loan in a particular bank,
move on to the next bank without servicing the
previous loan to obtain another loan; that will
become a thing of the past.
“Because once the bank takes your national
identification number, it can see all your various
transactions, all various businesses that you have
with all the other banks.”
He said that government had asked the commission
to “register every single Nigerian and legal
residents” but warned the aliens against any
attempt to use the card to commit crimes.
“If you are an alien and you think you can continue
doing that and go scot-free, then the person’s time
is numbered because very soon, we will get to him
or her,” he said. (NAN)

ABUJA – The Federal Government, Thursday,
ordered all Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities
that are currently on strike to immediately reopen
for academic and allied activities.
Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom
Wike stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja,
on the latest on the 5 months strike.
He said it was rather unfortunate that after a 13
hour meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in
Abuja on the 4th of November, 2013, three weeks
after the meeting Academic Staff Union of
Universities, ASUU came up with new conditions for
them to call off the 5 months old strike.
He said it was obvious that the new conditions of
ASUU was not in the interest of the nation.
The conditions that were given by ASUU included,
that President Jonathan should facilitate the
endorsement of resolutions reached with him and
must be signed by high ranking government official
preferably the Attorney-General of the Federation
but not a Permanent Secretary.

Osogbo – The Speaker of Osun House of Assembly,
Mr Najeem Salaam, has condemned the mob attack
on principal, teachers and students of Baptist High
School, Ejigbo, Osun, by Muslim youths.
Salaam told newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo that
the attack was unnecessary and uncalled for.
Muslim youths had on Tuesday invaded the Baptist
High School, Ejigbo, and beat up the Principal, Mr
Layi Oguntola as well as some teachers and
students.
It was alleged that the attackers, mobbed the
principal because the school authorities stopped
some Muslims pupils from wearing ‘hijab’.
The speaker, who described the incident as sad and
unfortunate, said the crisis did not have anything to
do with the school merger programme of the state
government.
“The crisis at the Baptist high school was sad, but
we thank God it has been resolved and normalcy
has been restored to the school.
“The crisis does not have anything to do with the

Najeem said the state government would not relent
in its efforts to provide environment that is
conducive to learning, adding that the school
reclassification programme in the state was in the
best interest of the citizenry. (NAN

By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North
A group loyal to the Niger Delta activist, Mujahid
Asari-Dokubo, Niger Delta People’s Volunteer
Force, NDPVF, has warned the authorities of Benin
Republic to free the former militant leader or be
ready to face its wrath.
The Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF,
issued the warning, signed by its leaders, Mr. Rex
Ekiugbo Anighoro in Abuja last night, follo-wing the
arrest and detention of Dokubo in an unknown
location since Tuesday afternoon.
Asari-Dokubo
NDPVF, which also likened the arrest to a kidnap by
the authori-ties, said that they were appalled by the
unprovoked breach of the fundamental rights of the
youth leader.
It said: “We hold this arrest as an absurdity. It is
unprovoked and questionable and has been without
any reason from the government of Republic of
Benin.
“We consider this as a kidnap of our leader by the
President of Republic of Benin working with certain
opposition figures in Nigeria.
“We hereby make demand on President Yayi Bonni
of the Republic of Benin to release, unconditionally
and with immediate effect, our leader Alhaji Asari-
Dokubo and offer unreserved apology to him for this
monumental breach of his rights.
“We call on all the aggrieved youths of Niger Delta
to be on red alert and ready for a total showdown
and shut down if in the next 48 hours his release
has not been made.
“We call on the President of the Nigerian union to
mediate on this potential diplomatic row that may
lead to an unprecedented conflagration.”
Comedian Julius Agwu sues Etisalat for N100m over blocked line
Comedian Julius Agwu sues Etisalat
for N100m over blocked line
Comedian Julius Agwu has dragged telecoms giant
Etisalat to court for blocking his business line. He
is demanding for N100million as compensation for
jobs lost, contact lost, for the inconveniences, and
for being mistreated by Etisalat staff. Below is a
statement from his lawyer, Festus Keyamo...
We are solicitors to Mr. Julius Agwu, one of
Nigeria's most sought after entertainers
(hereinafter referred to as "our client") and
on whose behalf we write.
Our client is the owner of the Etisalat GSM
phone number 08189555555, which he uses
as his business line. On the 8th of October,
2013, our client travelled out of the country
and returned on the 17th of the same month.
Upon his return, he tried severally to make
calls from the aforestated GSM line but
same could not connect. Not only could he
not make calls, he also could not receive
calls on the said GSM line. This continued for
some days until he got a message that his
line had been blocked by the network
provider.
Sequel to the above message, our client promptly
visited your Abuja office at Hilton to report the
matter. He was attended to by one Miss Joan, who
informed him that somebody swapped his line.
After our client successfully answered the
security questions put to him, he was informed
that his line had been restored, but the credit
balance on the line was not returned.
Surprisingly, our client's aforestated line was
blocked again after he left your said Abuja office.
Once again our client visited your office at the
local wing of the Murtala Mohammed International
Airport Ikeja, Lagos to lodge a complaint, but
painfully, nothing was done about it.
However, after sometime, our client was invited
for a meeting at your head office in Lagos on the
14th of November, 2013 which he duly honoured.
Present at the meeting (in addition to the officials
of your organization) was Mr. Mobolaji Okusaga,
the Managing Director of The Quadrant Company,
in his capacity as media agents/managers for
Etisalat Nigeria.
At the end of the meeting, our client was told for
the umpteenth time that they would get back to
him, which they again failed to do.
LOSS OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
It cannot be over emphasized that your actions of
unlawfully blocking and/or swapping our client's
line occasioned loss of business opportunities to
him. As you are aware, our client as one of the
most sought after Nigerian entertainers needs his
phone line to be easily accessible to keep his
business going. It therefore goes without saying
that our client has lost some business
opportunities as a result of your actions.
TAKE NOTICE that we have our client's firm
instruction to demand and hereby demand the sum
of N100,000,000.00 (One Hundred Million Naira) as
compensation for the loss of business
opportunities and the inconvenience caused our
client by reason of your unlawful and unjustified
blocking and/or swapping of our client's Etisalat
GSM phone line.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that in the event that you
fail, refuse or neglect to accede to our above
stated demand within seven (7) days from the
receipt of this letter, we shall be compelled to set
in motion against you, all legal machineries
necessary to obtain legal remedy for our client.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.
Police threaten to arrest monarchs over Plateau attacks

Plateau attacks
on november 27, 2013 at 5:38 pm in news
Jos - The Plateau police command on
Wednesday threatened to arrest traditional and
tribal leaders in the state whose domains continued
to record attacks by unknown gunmen.
Mr Chris Olakpe, the Commissioner of Police in the
state, said this in Jos at a stakeholders’ meeting
with various tribes in Plateau North Senatorial zone.
Olakpe debunked the claims by the leaders that the
attacks were carried out by unknown gunmen.
He said that the police had resolved to arrest the
leaders as accomplices because as custodian of
the society no crime would happen without their
knowledge.
“The command hereby gives the Berom and Fulani
traditional leaders in Barkin Ladi seven days within
which to produce the perpetrators of the recent
killings.
“The Berom leaders must produce the 120 cows
rustled and those that killed the three Fulani boys
while grazing cows in Foron village.
“The Fulani leaders should also produce those
behind the killing of over 300 people in Hypang area
of Barking Ladi Local Government recently.”
The police commissioner said that after the
expiration of the seven days and the criminals were
not produced, the traditional rulers would be
arrested and charged to court.
Olakpe condemned the situation where the
traditional rulers and the parents had failed to
exposed the perpetrators of the nefarious acts in
the area.
He expressed concern that youths in the area were
no longer under parental control and advised the
parents to always guide their children so that peace
would return to the area.
“The command hereby directs the traditional rulers
not be afraid of the youth in their area as the police
is ready to give them protection.
“Any youth that commits any offence within their
domain should be reported to the police or soldiers
for possible arrest and prosecution.
“Any parent or guardian whose ward is involved in
any criminal activity and he fails to report to the
police will be arrested as an accomplice.”
The commissioner regretted that women, children
and pregnant mothers were worst hit victims of the
faceless criminals.
Olakpe said also that most of the victims were poor
rural folks while the children and wives of elite were
shielded.
He called on the Pastors and Imams not to relent in
preaching peace messages in order to inculcate
good moral behaviours on the youth.
Mr Patrick Dangal, a Berom village head, promised
that they would be up and doing in monitoring the
community with a view to exposing the criminals.
Dangal appealed to the police to give them all the
necessary protection in order for them to discharge
their duties without fear or favour.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
leaders from the Muslim and Christian sides also
pledged to give the police the necessary support.
NAN reports that 40 people recently lost their lives
in multiple attacks by unknown gunmen in Barkin

9ice Explains Why He Denied His Twin Daughters
9ice Explains Why He Denied His Twin Daughters
Shortly after his marriage to ex-wife Toni Payne
packed up in 2010, Gongo Aso crooner 9ice
welcomed a set of twin daughters with another
lady Vicki Gordis.
When the news first became public, 9ice fiercely
denied the story, saying the press had made it
up. Not until he proudly shared the pictures of his
adorable twins on Instagram some weeks back.
And in this new interview with Punch, 9ice finally
explains why he lied. Why did you deny you had
twins when they were born?
- I did say I didn’t have twins then because I
believe it was personal. If I have N1m, I think it is
only my account’s officer that should know how
much I have. In fact, he wouldn’t even have the
right to check my account unless I ask him to do
that. He couldn’t just cull up my account details
and start checking how much I have. This is not a
car we are talking about, these are human beings.
But when they grow up, do you think they will
forgive you when they read that you once denied
them?
- I will tell them the reason I did that. It was the
same way my father gave me his own reasons. I
didn’t know him until I was 22. I got to know my
mother when I was 18. They gave me their
reasons for doing what they did. I asked my father
where he was all the time I was growing up and he
told me where and how and when he was a part of
my life. If my kids grow up to ask me why I did
what I did, I would certainly explain to them. I
didn’t say I didn’t have kids just because I wanted
to lie, No. I had my reasons. I had my life to live.
You are in showbiz, so you shouldn’t expect to
have a private life…
- But there are still some elements that are
personal. I didn’t fight anybody when the stories
came out. I just didn’t say anything because I
wasn’t ready to talk about it. I wasn’t ready to
share the story. When I got ready, I even shared
the pictures of the twins. Who knows, I could have
even used their pictures to make money and sell
to a publication that wanted them. But I just
released the pictures.
Do we see you getting married to their mother
soon?
- I will get married soon. It is very possible.
But is she the one you are with at the moment?
- I am not saying anything on that. No comment.
Let’s go back to what you said earlier on about not
knowing your parents until you were a young man,
how did it happen?
- It is going to be in my autobiography. I am going
to make money out of the story. I am not divulging
it. Nobody knows about it yet.

jailed for 22 years
A 21 year old Nigerian named Kayode Oshin
(pictured right), who uploaded a video on YouTube
boasting about trying to murder a rival with a
machine gun was jailed for 22 years yesterday,
Daily Mail reports. His accomplice, Junior Tahir-
Akinyele (pictured left) was jailed for 14 years.
"Kayode Oshin, 21, attempted to assassinate
Yassin Zouaiou with a Mac 10 in a feud over
drugs and money in Hounslow, west London,
after being enticed into a world of gang
culture and crime’, a court heard.
Mr Zouaiou survived when the gun jammed -
but a single bullet was fired, hitting his
brother Mohammed Ali Subhani in the neck.
But Oshin then posted a rap video bragging
about the shooting on YouTube.
The shooting was carried out in an alleyway
between North Drive and Kingsley Road,
Hounslow, at around 1am on October 6, 2011, the
court heard.
Oshin and a second man, Junior Tahir-Akinyele,
19, were arrested the next day in a white
Mercedes-Benz they had hired for the attack.
Jailing Oshin for 22 years and Tahir-Akinyele for
14 years, Judge Timothy Pontius said the pair had
been ‘enticed into a world of gang culture and
crime’.
‘Oshin you are convicted of attempted murder,
your clear intention was that Yassin Zouaiou
should die,’ he added. ‘That intention would
undoubtedly have been realised were it not for the
fact that the mechanism on the gun jammed,
releasing only one round.'
Oshin was jailed for 22 years for attempted
murder; 16 years imprisonment for possession of
a firearm with intent to endanger life and 14 years
for wounding with intent, all to run concurrent.
Tahir-Akinyele was sentenced to 14 years in a
Young Offenders’ Institution for possession of
firearms with intent to endanger life with 12 years
concurrent for wounding with intent.

Power generation hits 4000mw
Power generation hits 4000mw
on november 27, 2013 at 4:47 pm in news
Lagos – The Transmission Company of Nigeria
(TCN) on Wednesday announced that the nation’s
power generation now hovers between 3,800 mega
watts and 4,000 mega watts.
Mrs Seun Olagunju, TCN General Manager, Public
Affairs, disclosed this to the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview.
She said that the restoration of power to 4,000
mega watts followed the repairs of the vandalised
pipeline supplying gas to Okpai power plant in Delta
State.
Olagunju said that the 450 megawatts from Okpai
power plant lost during the period of the damage
had been returned into the national grid since
Monday, Nov. 25.
She reassured Nigerians that power supply would
be stable after the completion of repair work on the
gas pipelines.
The TCN spokesperson reiterated the Federal
Government’s determination to improve power
supply across the country.
She said the Federal Government was also
collaborating with states to implement the National
Integrated Power Projects (NIPP).
She said that the private sector was being
encouraged to complement efforts of government by
building power projects aimed at increasing power
generation capacity.
“So, I want to assure Nigerians that from what we
are seeing on ground, from the end of this year
onwards, I believe that there will be greater stability
of power in the country.
“Even now, there is marginal increase in power
generation.
“We have taken it from less than 2,000 mega watts
to over 4,000 mega watts now,” Olagunju said.
She said that ongoing construction of additional
power plants would increase power generation from
the end of 2013 to 2014.
“Let me reassure Nigerians that as far as power
supply is concerned, our country is moving in the
right direction; far better than it used to be.
“So, let’s keep working together so that Nigeria can
be lighted up 24 hours.
“We have over 4,000 mega watts of electricity now,
but what we are sending out in the average is 3,800
mw because of the frequency control that regulates
the supply.” she said.
NAN reports that Okpai Power Plant was shut down
on Nov. 23, 2013 following the vandalism of the
pipeline that supplies gas to Okpai power plant.
